Southampton Solent University offers a dynamic programme of performance degrees that integrate theoretical and critical analysis with opportunities to gain practical experience for both stage and screen.
The university strives to bring innovative and engaging teaching methods to students, and the Course Leader for our Acting & Performance and Musical Theatre degrees at Solent is a qualified Perdekamp Emotional Method (PEM) instructor – one of the first two UK trained certified instructors, meaning that Solent is the only institution outside of London that can offer this new technique.
Students are encouraged to gain hands-on industry experience working closely with our industry partners. Solent’s collaborative culture encourages students to work with peers on other creative courses within the University including film, television, photography, fashion, make-up and animation. Our students have the opportunity to work on recorded and live performance projects both within the curriculum and as independent productions providing the opportunity to deepen and broaden practical experience.
Southampton Solent University was voted by students as one of the top creative universities in the UK in the Which? University Student Survey in 2013 and 2015, and has been rated five stars in Inclusiveness and teaching, and four stars for Employability in the QS World University Rankings.
The world of performing arts is exciting and competitive. The development of our two new undergraduate degrees are designed to enhance graduate skills and therefore improve employability in a challenging environment.
